"Original Pirate Material Coming Down Your Aerial.." (M. Skinner 2001)
Ahoy me hearties. Yo Ho Ho and a bottle of rum (or several). Welcome to Bestival Radio 2006 on 87.7FM – Original Pirate Radio broadcasting to Bestival and Beyond. Welcome to your 24 hour radio station, back once again after the roaring success of last year's voyage - bigger & bolder & rougher & tougher, spreading the truth and chucking out the good vibes for the whole of the weekend.
From 8am on the Friday morning till sometime on Monday we'll be press-ganging as many musicians, DJs, personalities and performers into taking a turn at the controls, but more importantly than that we'll be allowing / forcing YOU to get involved and make the station the REAL sound of Bestival.
So, we don't just want you to bring a radio (although that is VERY important!), we want as many of you Bestivaloids involved as possible with program suggestions (send them now to emmaklsutton@yahoo.co.uk), our request show every day (bring one CD or record and get it on air "If It's Not Rubbish"), plus our Pirate Treasure Hunt and loads of the station lovelies out on site getting your opinion and festival feeling from the ground to the air-waves. We're there for you…
The idea behind Bestival FM is to enhance and expand the madness that is our Bestival, transmitting the chaotic perfection and the musical passion, drawing everyone on the site closer together, and at the same time allowing the awesome power of what is being created in that small valley to reach out and touch many more people. For the whole weekend we'll be there to throw fuel on the musical fire, fan the flames of silliness and spread the sweet, funny smelling smoke as far and wide as possible.
Already confirmed are: some bloke called Rob da Bank, Rev Milo Speedwagon, Eclectic Method, Kish Mauve, Raf Daddy, Johnno & Charlotte from Bugged Out, Sean Rowley, Sombrero Sound System, Paddy Freeform, Barry Ashworth, Gid & Will b from pigeonhold, and the glorious New Young Pony Club.
