'Best Medium Sized Festival' (UK Festival Awards 2005 & 2006)
Roll up roll up for three days and nights of music and merry mayhem as the Bestivalest Show On Earth returns for your pleasure! Expect hoe downs, high times, tea and cakes, techno, folk and everything in between at this the most spectacular show on Mother Earth.
At last the much-anticipated festival is now on sale! But this ain't no ordinary summer shindig – Bestival, now in its fourth year, is well known for its unique creativity, innovation and darned right cheekiness. Our three day world of utter escapism takes festival lovers into the realms of surreal adventure - Not only does Bestival stand out with its most brilliant array of bands, DJ's and performances curated by Rob da Bank but we are also renowned for eye-catching bespoke arenas and the delectable designs of Josie da Bank that breathe magical life into every corner of the Bestival globe.
This year the Bestival Main Stage will be set alight with two of the worlds greatest live spectaculars –
The Chemical Brothers who will be headlining the Friday night slot and the mighty
Beastie Boys who will reign on Saturday.
After spending the last few months in the studio working on their much anticipated next album The Chemical Brothers will be firing on all cylinders and ready to take the festival world into a new dimension by closing the Friday headline slot. In fact this is how excited they are ….
"We're very excited to be playing at Bestival. It was the best party I went to last summer, I can't believe we haven't done it yet, we're going to rock the house!" Ed Simons, The Chemical BrothersAs for the Saturday headliner, our favourite purveyors of BBoy Bouillabaisse, the Beastie Boys will be taking the Isle of Wight by storm. This is their only festival in England and we are doing the light fandango in celebration of this exclusive performance by the legendary US act. After spending the last year in the studio, not only have they got an incredible new album but they also have a few surprises up their sleeves for Bestival … watch this space!!!
As you can see this year is already going bonkers as everyone's favourite festi spins into action - Rob da Bank is so excited he could pop:
"I can't believe we're about to launch the fourth Bestival and i'm as excited as ever about the acts we've got on board already and the hundreds more to come. We're the only English festival to get the Beastie Boys and I can't wait to see the fancy dress loonies po-going along to No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn. Friday headliners The Chemical Brothers are old favourites of all of us at Bestival HQ and their new tunes are miles ahead of everyone else as usual. Laser rave action ahoy! As for the Sunday headliner, well you'll just have to wait but it'll be worth it (and yes I do know who it is!)" Rob da BankAnd the music doesn't stop there – we have literally fields of festival favourites, hot new bands and Rob's top tips to keep our loyal campers entertained - From festival stalwarts
Levellers to legends
Gregory Isaacs and
Billy Bragg, not forgetting DJ supremos
François K and
David Holmes and tipped for the top acts such as
The Maccabees, Bonde De Role, and
Mr Hudson & The Library - it's truly the most jam-packed cacophony of musical treats ever!
But its not just about the music, it's the whole shebang with Bestival – We've created the perfect place to indulge yourself in three days of wonder. A place to meet like-minded folk, munch fantastic foodstuffs and experience the best three days of your life – its also the hottest ticket on the planet so don't stay in bed, get that golden nugget and sail your way to the Solent and join in the fun!
We'll have many more thrilling announcements to make over the coming weeks for our small and perfectly formed festival and rest assured Bestival will be the best its ever been this year with its beautiful boutique campsite, the brilliant Bollywood Cocktail Bar, some more dancing lessons in our Come Dancing Tent, a stunning array of creativity in our Fancy Dress parade and many more magical moments across the weekend.
But here's just a few of the genius new mad-cap ideas that da Bank and his fellow fun brigade have dreamt up to keep Bestival the most exciting festival of all…
Swim to Bestival – What better way to arrive at Bestival than with a bracing charity swim across the Solent? With Navy lifeguards on hand in case you get a bit knackered and Miguel Mantovani from The Cuban Brothers screaming encouragement into a megaphone from his rubber dinghy this is the way to travel! Full details to follow.
Club Dada – A new tent for Bestival 2007 in which anything and everything could happen. And probably will! Surreal mixtures of cabaret and performance with the coolest music to boot. From hoedown to high times, from lo fi to Death Defying Circus acts. This is the tent to feel the warmth of the Bestival mayhem and meet a whole new Bonkers World.
Laughter Clubs – inspired by the rib tickling chuckling associations that have sprung up all over India and the rest of the world Bestivalites can join in a number of laughter clubs happening across the Bestival site all weekend.
Fake Bush goes to Bollywood – our favourite Kate Bush impersonator imagines our Kate heading off to Bollywood with her new show unveiled at Bestival 2007.
Much more to be announced shortly!
