Gypsy Punks Storm Bestival as Gogol Bordello headline Friday on the Main stage!

- Plus Guillemots confirmed for Main Stage on Saturday
- Future Sound of London presents the Amorphous Androgynous confirmed for the Blue Pavillion
- Xbox Lost & Sound arena revealed
- And only 6 weeks to go till Showtime!!

Well its hot out there and even hotter at Bestival HQ as we’re dancing for joy at our latest line up additions. In true Rob da Bank style he’s picked the hottest act of the summer for the prestigious Friday night headline slot, the mighty, mischievous Gogol Bordello. Last year Robby picked the Magic Numbers for this slot paving the way for the Friday night headliner being Rob’s top tip of the year. Sitting pretty next to the Scissor Sisters and the Pet Shop Boys there is no doubt New York’s infamous Gypsy punks are set to rocket as Bestival goers experience their unique headline quality – not to be missed!

In the words of Bestival curator Rob da Bank:

“I’ve been chasing Gogol Bordello since Christmas to do Bestival and finally bribed and cajoled them to move recording commitments.  We are really, really pleased they are headlining the Friday night. They’re easily the most exciting live band I’ve seen in 2006 and if you haven’t seen them yet you won’t be disappointed.  Gypsy punk, Eastern European ska, New York bombastic breaks, weird haircuts and sexy ladies with washboards strapped to their backs!”

And it doesn’t stop there – Guillemots – the most eccentric band of musicians you'll find this side of, well the Mystery Jets or Gogol Bordello, have just confirmed for the main stage on Saturday.  Another of Rob’s top tips, Guillemots are fronted by the ace bearded showman Fyfe Dangerfield and with a stunning debut album ‘Through The Windowpane’ whipping up a frenzy both sides of the Atlantic check ‘em out while they're still available on this planet! Currently 6-1 faves for the Mercury Music Prize. Fingers and toes crossed for them eh!

Completing the new acts to add, our 24 hour arena The Blue Pavilion Inspired by Rizla plays host to the Future Sound Of London presents the Amorphous Androgynous - a psychedelic / cosmic rock / ambient / progtronic supergroup fronted by Future Sound Of London's Gary Cobian and featuring Gary Lucas (Jeff Buckley co writer/Captain Beefheart). Expect sitars, drums, guitars, electronics, visuals and a monstrous psychedelic bubble exploding in your mind and eyes!  Headlining The Blue Pavilion on Saturday.

Last but not least we’re pleased to announce another new addition to our arenas - the Xbox Lost & Sound stage in association with Vice magazine bringing you intimate live performances from some of the most exciting artists this summer.

The Xbox Lost & Sound tour finishes by bringing their unique fusion of breakthrough music talent and next generation gaming to Bestival. Featuring live performances from some of the UKs most talked about bands, including Cazals, Whitey, Archie Bronson Outfit, Man Like Me, and Ladyfuzz, the Xbox Lost & Sound stage is set to rock in 2006.
